Does exchange 2007 spam filter send replies back automatically or by default
to senders that meet the spam criteria?

- Depends on which filter blocks/acts on a message, and the action taken.
- When messages are rejected during SMTP conversation, the sender's mail
server is responsible for sending any NDRs.
- When messages are accepted by Exchange and deleted, no NDRs are sent.

I'm trying to figure out then how a user sends a message to someone our
exchange server but they receive

SMTP error from remote mail server after end of data:
host (name of server) [IP Address of Server]: 550 5.7.1 Message
rejected as spam by Content Filtering.
