old messages dropped from exchange client inbox

I have an SBS 4.5 system and the administrator's inbox in Exchange
client on the server was about 200 or so old messages.

When I looked the other day it had shrunk to just 4 messages from the
past 3 or 4 weeks.

This is not the end of the world, but the inbox is a useful historical
listing of thigs that have happened months ago....has anyone any idea
why it seems to have been automatically purged? And is there anywhere
that it may have been archived to? I feel somehat cheated??
