I have an AD security group that I mail enabled a while ago
due to reorganization that mail address has to be removed but I do
still need the security group

is there a command such as disable-distributiongroup but then for a
security group?

thnx

Hi
from EMC go to Recipient Configuration\Distribution Group, right click the
group and choose Disable, the email properties will be removed but the group
will stay intact.

Yes; disable-distributiongroup on the mail enabled security group will
strip the Exchange attributes.
