My company has 20 local users who attach to our Exchange server through
Outlook 98.

We also have 20 users who are at small satellite offices connected to cable
modems. At the present time, they are using Outlook to connect to our
server, with the server IP as the "Exchange Server" in the outlook services.

Are there any reasons to have them use OWA instead? I.e. do clients
connecting directly to the server through the internet with OUTLOOK put an
extra load on the server - or would it be the same with OWA either way?

There are many different opinions. It depends on how heavy of a user they
are really. Are they complaining about it being slow ? If not, I would just
leave them be. Not as many features with OWA as they would have with Outlook
98.. my 2 cents

If they need the full functionality of an Outlook client, OWA will not be an
alternative. The load is somewhat lighter with OWA, but also requires more
services on the server. With cable modem access, I'd assume your users have
adequate speed for full clients.
