We are getting sync errors for Exchange 2003 / Outlook 2003 clients at a
remote location whenever they send an email, even though mail delivery is
fine, incoming and outgoing, and the address book looks fine.

They are on cached mode with a local DC

The error is: Microsoft Exchange offline address book 0X8004010F

I Google this and none of the solutions seems to match my issue because my
address book is fine.

The other way to get the error is to do a manual send/receive of the address
book.

Clients are blaming this on why sometimes their message are not sent when
really the problem is occasionally Outlook has gone to "Offline", as can
happen when accessing a server across a WAN.

Please let me know what I should try to fix this.

Thanks!

-Bob

Every single time?
Are they hitting send/receive for some reason? they don't need to....

How did you check that out?
What about your local clients? Same problem?

Yes, that can happen...train users to look in the lower-right-hand corner
before they panic. But that said, tt's possible that the connectivity
problem could be the cause of this error message, I suppose.

Hi, Their address book is old, too, I discovered.

We just can't get a new copy of the address book at that location and they
get the sync error entry every time they send a message (not doing
send/receive, just clicking Send on the message.

Yes, users who rarely have issues forget to look at the status area.

It does not seems to be related to how the user is created in AD but instead
somethign to do with the configuration of the remote office in AD. Because
if one of the remote users goes to the head office their mailbox works fine.
And If someone from the head office goes to the remote location they start
having sync issues.

I would pursue the OAB problem, to see why it's generating these messages.

I have solution ok.

Into the console exchange 2007 -> Server Configuration --> Inbox ->
right-click "Mailbox Database" -> "Client Configuration" -> "Offline Address
Book" -> Search

If you look address book offline is "empty".

I hope you will help.

A greeting .-
