Not sure what to do here.
Thanks,

You're supposed to "un tick" the management components bit, or are you
saying you have tried that and still have the problem or that the
management components tickbox is greyed out?
I removed the check and ran it. Then I got "remoteregistry failed to reach
status stopped". So I rebooted with remoteregistry in disabled mode and
automatic mode and then the option Management Tools - was grayed out. So I
set remoteregistry back to auto rebooted and the option is now grayed out.
I am looking at the exchangesetup.log - it does find all the domain
controller information. But gets to my local machine and this might be the
problem.
Does this make any sense - No ExchangeSErver with identity.....

Thank you for your post. My name is Robbin Meng, and it is my pleasure to
work with you on this issue!
Please allow me to confirm that my understandings are correct. As I
understand it, the issue is:
You are trying to uninstall/remove Exchange System Management Tools from
your Windows XP client, however the related items are grayed out and cannot
continue.
If I have misunderstood your concerns please feel free to let me know.
This issue may occur if some previously installed Exchange components or
registry key are missing/corrupted.
First, please try Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.
With the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility, you can remove a program's
Windows Installer configuration information. You may want to remove the
Windows Installer configuration information for your program if you
experience installation (Setup) problems. For example, you may have to
remove a program's Windows Installer configuration information if you have
installation problems when you try to add (or remove) a component of your
program that was not included when you first installed your program.

More information, please check:

Windows XP

However, if the issue persists after performing the above steps, please
help me to collect more information:
Information Need
==============
1. If possible, please help to capture some error message screenshot files
and zip them then send to me.
2. Check event viewer for related information, if there are anything
related Exchange setup error, please help save it to *.evt and send to me
at: v-ro...@microsoft.com. Also, please attach the ExchangeSetup log as
well.
I look forward to your reply. Also, if you have any questions or concerns,
please do not hesitate to let me know.
Thank you for your time and cooperation!

Thanks for your reply.
However, I checked my mailbox(v-ro...@microsoft.com ) but didn't find your
email. Could you please double check my email address and resend the
required files(including screenshot files, Event log files as well as
Exchange setup log)to me? Sorry for the inconvenience.
By the way, did the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility work to remove the
management tool?
Again, thank you for your time and cooperation!
I sent it again this morning. Please check your spam/junk mail. I confirmed
the email address and I sent it to the right one.
I sent the log file again. AS I mentioned in the email there are not event
log entries as I cannot do anything now with the options grayed out. I can
only cancel the uninstall.
The cleanup utility did not work.
Thanks SJMP
I reproduced the issue on my side and encounter same issue as the Remote
Registry service interrupted the uninstallation.
The Exchange Uninstallation registry keys are stored at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Micro
soft Exchange
So let's use Windows Installer command msiexec to uninstall it directly:
Command:
========
msiexec /Option <Required Parameter> [Optional Parameter]
Install Options: </uninstall | /x> <Product.msi | ProductCode> , means
Uninstalls the product
Therefore, please try:
Start -> Run -> MsiExec.exe /X{24B2C164-DE66-44FE-B468-A46D9D5E6B31}
Hope this helps.
>msiexec /uninstall /X {24B2C164-DE66-44FE-B468-A46D9D5E6B31}
if I need product.msi | product code - what is it?
C:\>msiexec /uninstall| /X{C8F07A27-D610-4D37-9768-12E6AECED6FE}
'/X{C8F07A27-D610-4D37-9768-12E6AECED6FE}' is not recognized as an internal
or external command,
operable program or batch file.
C:\>msiexec /uninstall | /X {24B2C164-DE66-44FE-B468-A46D9D5E6B31}
'/X' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
C:\>msiexec /uninstall | /X{24B2C164-DE66-44FE-B468-A46D9D5E6B31}
'/X{24B2C164-DE66-44FE-B468-A46D9D5E6B31}' is not recognized as an internal
or external command,
operable program or batch file.
>Here is what I get. I tried both the Product code you gave me and the one I
>found in my registry:
>
>
>C:\>msiexec /uninstall| /X{C8F07A27-D610-4D37-9768-12E6AECED6FE}
>'/X{C8F07A27-D610-4D37-9768-12E6AECED6FE}' is not recognized as an internal
>or external command,
>operable program or batch file.
Start -> Run -> MsiExec.exe /X {24B2C164-DE66-44FE-B468-A46D9D5E6B31}
The "|" in the help text indicates that you must chose one of the
options between the "<> and ">". It's not part of the command.
