I have Exhange 2000 set up on the Windows 2000 SBS running on a dual 800
Pentium III, RAID 5 system with 1G RAM shared by about 15 users.
We are getting Outlook hangs which affect everyone, during which there is
minimal network traffic.
We have a public folder with ~12000 contact items in the folder which is
shared, updated and regularly searched by everyone; is this an unreasonable
size, we do not have a full text index enabled.

i'd vote for that being an unreasonable size for that sort of
activity. uotlook is searching the entire folder contents without
benefit of any indexes at all.
