Exchange Server 5.5 Server Name Change

Have the need to change the name of an Exchange Server.
The existing name has an underscore "_" in it and this
makes the server uncompliant for the latest rfc. Is there
a workaround for this? ...or a utility to help renaming
the server? ...or can this be done at the ISP
level? ...or does the Exchange Server need to be started
over from scratch?

Please help. Internet America updated their servers and
because of the underscore in the server name will no
longer accept email from this Exchange Server.

Repost on the subject:

The Directory is linked to the Server Name and cannot be used if you Change
the Server Name.
Changing the Server Name will require an uninstall and reinstall of
Exchange.

1. You will need to export your mailbox's, custom recipients and
distribution lists to csv files.
2. Take screen shots of the configuration of your connectors
3. Backup
4. Remove Exchange
5. Change the Server Name
6. Install Exchange with the EXACT same Org and Site names
7. Import the mailbox's, custom recipients and distribution lists
8. Restore the Information Store
9. Add the connectors
and so on...
