Hi All.

I have just setup RPC over HTTP and when adding an account to outlook I
add my FQDN for my exchange server and then my username and then hit
check name. Its resolves my server name to a local hostname ie.
hostname.domain.local. Since Im trying to access this over a WAN it
obvoiusly wont work. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks in Advance.
Blaine

You will need the common name for your site. For example the internet DNS
name could be, mail.yourdomain.com. Did you create your own CA or are using
a Third Party? You can check and verify what it is. I am including link to
help you out,

Actually Im not using a SSL CA. I created a SSL CA so I could use Forms
Authentication in OWA, and that works fine.. I just can seem to get it
to work when adding an account to outlook?

Altho I see in the link that you sent me that when they add there
account to outlook its does the same thing with there server name ie
ex2003.hosting.farm.

That would work fine if I was on the same LAN but Im trying to access
it remotely..

If you are going to be using Outlook over the internet, you will need to
connect by SSL since it uses port 443. If you have already created a CA for
your server you should be able to connect over the internet. Have you
installed the Cert on your computer you are trying to connect to over the
internet with Outlook? I assumed you already connected with OWA over HTTPs
its already installed. Please review again the link I provided as it does
explain both securing OWA and Outlook over the internet and post back with
any questions.

John,

Ive followed those instructions and I just cant get it. I get further
now that Im using SSL but outlook then says that it cannot log on to my
default folder and that I must use the correct profile name. Im sorry I
have tryed this several times and dont seem to be able to get it right.

Thanks,

So are you connecting with Internet DNS name of your server in the Cached
Profile?
