Is there a way to import public folders from a .pst file
to a public folder on a different Exchange server?

Short of it.

Moved Exchange to a new server but the name of the ner
server cannot be the same name as the old Exchange (5.5)
server unforunately. So, I used Exmerge and pulled all of
the mailboxes into pst and then imported them into the new
Exchange server. Worked great.

Now I have 5 public folders that I need to move over to
the new Exchange (5.5) server. Googling the problem led
me to a couple of posts about creating the .psts and
importing (one microsoft chat session said "drag and
drop") using Outlook. I cant get that to work. When I
choose Public Folders it says "cannot import into the root
of Public) or something like that. (Sorry...not in front
of the machine at this time). I tried creating a public
folder of the same name and importing and still no go.

I also saw a Microsoft Exchange tech mention "Pubmerge"
but I cannot find anything on this except some German
sites. Does this program exist?!

Any help guys?

TIA!!

You can of course use Outlook to move data from a .pst to Public Folders.

William,

Thanks for the quick reply.

Exactly how is that done? Ive tried going to File (in
Outlook) and Import/Export and Import from a file and
then .pst and then choosing the .pst from the old Exchange
server and then choosing Public Folders in the drop down
box when prompted where to import it to. Thats when I get
an error about not importing into the root of Public
Folders. But I can't find any way of specifying the
Public Folder I created.

I think this seems to be my problem, atm.

Any tips?

Create a folder in the root public folders level. Import to there.
