Hi, we have an exchange 2003 server and now want to
cluster it for fault tolerance. How can we do this? Do
we need an exact server to cluster it too?

We have not clustered before.

the best route you could take is this:

1. attach a new server to an central array storage
2. make him windows 2003 member server, apply any hotfixes and SP.
3. install cluster on this node, and add a resourc called DTC coordinator
4. Install Exchange on the node
5. create System attendent resource on the cluster, and all the other
Resources Will appear. make him part of the same Admin group
6. enable the resources
7. setup the new exchange server the way you want it(storage groups, stores,
etc..)
8. move mailboxes from the existing Exchange server to the new cluster node,
and migrate PF and the connectors
9. uninstall exchange from the first exchagne server
10. attach the server to the array
11. install windows 2003 with the same SP and hotfixes like the first node
12. join him to the cluster
13. Install exhnage on him, it will be cluster aware by default.

then you will have an A/P Exchange cluster, ready to use.
