I missed that you're running Exchange 2007, sorry. You should create the
groups and contacts using Exchange Management Console or Exchange Management
Shell, not Active Directory Users and Computers. IIRC you should be able to
upgrade the ones you've already created using EMC to Exchange 2007
mail-enabled groups and contacts, but if you can't you can certainly delete
and recreate them.

This was using Outlook Web Access. Will the email still be sent? How can I
fix the access denied error?
Anyway, I mail enabled all the contacts using the microsoft exchange mgmt
interface on the exchange server. I wasnt sure if the group was created
correctly so I deleted it and re-created it in exchange and added all the
contacts. However, when a user uses microsoft web outlook and types in the
distro list it resolves it.... but when I click on the name to list the
contacts I get the following message:
Access is denied.
Outlook Web Access was unable to access the Active Directory resource. This
may be because the Active Directory object does not exist or the object has
become corrupted, or because you do not have sufficient access rights for the
object.
