I'm getting ready to reload my exchange server and want to
know how to restore the mailboxes once the server has been
reloaded.

As far as I know, I have to backup the Microsoft Exchange
Information Store, and restore it to my new exchange
server setup, is this correct? I'm using Veritas Backup
Exec 8.0.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Brick Level Backup is BAD news. See
http://mail.tekscan.com/nomailboxes.htm.

If you insist on backing up mailboxes, you are correct to restore the
information and mailboxes on recovery. Veritas documentation explains this
in detail.

Backing up your ENTIRE IS brick by brick is generally bad news, but using
brick level functionality selectively (like the top 10 or 20 most important
mailboxes) is perfectly acceptable.

I think like anything else brick level functionality should be used
sensibly.

If brick-level like functionality is what you want... but without the
problems associated with traditional brick-level products. Check out
Commvault Galaxy Exchange Mailbox level agent. Check these sites out.
