Users have no master SID errors in event logs (event id 9548)

There are loads of these errors on our Exchange 2003 server in the events:

Disabled user /o=CompanyNameLtd/ou=London/cn=Recipients/cn=Bristol/cn=Harry
does not have a master account SID. Please use Active Directory MMC to set an
active account as this user's master account.

are these accounts that had mailboxes and have been disabled? does this
apply?

Ah. I get these all the time. You get these when you disable accounts, I
assume. Set the associated external NT account to "self" on the disabled
accounts so that AD will generate SIDs for these. If you have a lot of them
to do, you can use the ADModify tool and do them in bulk.
