I believe the correct code, if available, will depend on the language of the
keyboard.

Format the cell to the "Symbol" font, and type
<Alt> 083
using the Num keypad ...
*OR*
just type an upper case "S".

What text box???

This is the first you time you mentioned anything about a text box in this
thread!

ANYWAY ... Just do what I said!

Format the *text box* to "Symbol", and type a capitol "S".

If you're mixing the Sigma character with other, regular text and/or
numbers, then simply type your entire data into the box, placing a capitol
"S" in the place(s) you'd want the Sigma to appear.

When you're finished,
select the "S",
right click in the box,
click on "Format Text Box",
and scroll to the Symbol font,
and click <OK>.
and the selected S will display as Sigma.
