Hi -

I am using excel 97 and have a roster spreadsheet. I am the only one
who uses it and in of the formulas used ( put in numerous cells ) the
reference cell numbers have changed. the back up of the file last week
have the original and correct values whilst the up to date one have
changed. they have not been changed manually and are not related to
other cells
? is it corrupt

? are the newer excel programs a lot more stable

I don't think I've ever seen any version of excel change my formulas. But I'm
not sure what reference cell numbers are.

If I use a formlua like:
=a1+a2
and insert a new row 1, then excel will adjust my formula to:
=a2+a1

But I bet that's not what you're writing about.

You may want to give an example (before and after) to see if anyone else has
seen what you describe.

Hi Dave,

I'm not sure what is doing on,

but can you or anyone direct me to a good site re: corrupt files and
excel 97 or newer versions. I would like to get some information just
in case.

thanks

I don't recall seeing any site that is dedicated to corrupt excel files.

There are file recovery services that may have info on them--but I've never
looked.
