Hi Bernie, thank you. It works well, but does not ignore
the entries for unique reference that has no entry in the
sumif column. Ie it still includes it a a record in the
average calculation. Any further help?

Matthew, firstly you should try and stay in the same thread otherewise
people will lose the plot and not know what is going on. That having been
said, you have been given the same answer a few times now by different
people yet it appears not to do what you wish. Given that, I would post an
example in words of exactly what it is you are trying to do, including cell
references and the exact formula you have at the moment. Poinmt out what it
it is doing that you do not wish it to by making reference to whatever
neumbers are being included that you did not want included.
