I've been told that there is a maximum number of cells
that AutoFilter will handle.

Is that true?
If so, what is the limit?

Thanks

AFAIK, there's no limit to the number of rows that an AutoFilter can
handle. However, an AutoFilter dropdown list will only show 1000
entries. If your column has more than 1000 unique items, they can't all
be displayed. There are a couple of workarounds here:

The other limitation is that when your list has many formulas the Status
Bar may show "Filter Mode" instead of a count of the visible records.
There are articles in the Microsoft KnowledgeBase that explain:

Thanks!!

Used properly, the spreadsheet I'm working with will be
filtered for one of about a dozen unique entries that
should narrow down the 5k+ rows to then be filtered for
the blanks...

I'm sure someone will botch that, but you do the best you
can.

Thanks!
