I am adding a list box to an Excel spreadsheet that
contains 140 employee names in the box. I have found that
I can't click on the drop down arrow and type the first
initial of the last name to get it to go to that area. Is
there a way to do this? This will certainly help with
data entry.

I also tried creating a list under Data, to Validation to
Settings to List and the same thing happened. I am sure
that this is something that Excel users utilize
frequently. I just don't know where to find it! Ideas
will be greatly appreciated!

Hi

Use a ComboBox, not a listbox. Listboxes are not for typing into.

Unfortunately, Data validation doesn't provide "autocomplete". Would be nice
if it did.

I added the employee list as a combobox using the Forms
toolbar. I still can't jump to a last name by typing the
first letter after clicking on the drop down arrow.
Insights anyone? I am half way there....

Use the Combo Box from the Control Toolbox instead.

I got the combo box and autocomplete to a name in the list
to work. I had to use the Control Toolbar. I followed
the help in this article in PCMag:

to all!
