If you want to have a formula read a cell or value from another
spreadsheet, the simplest way of doing this is to have both
spreadsheets open. As a simple example, select a cell in workbook A
(this is where the result of the formula will end up). Put an equals
sign in this cell and before hitting enter, place the cursor into the
other workbook (B) and click on a cell that contains a number. This has
now linked the two workbooks so that as the number in workbook B
changes, the formula you have created in workbook A (which will be
something like
=+[workbookA.xls]sheet1!$a$1 ) will change too. Once you get this bit
straight, you'll find linking workbooks isn't really any different than
connecting sheets in the same workbook

Good luck
Jon
