I use Windows 7.
I've created a template in Excel 2007. I saved it as template.xltxm.

When I use the file, then click Save, I expect a new SAVE box to open.
Instead, it just saves itself as a template. I have "Save as Excel
Workbook" checked in the Options.

I can't seem to figure out why it doesn't save as a workbook.
I'm grateful for any helpful ideas.

Thanks.

Your original workbook was saved as a macro-enabled template............*.xltm

Correct?

How do you open?

DO NOT go through File>Open

Button>New then pick from your Templates.

What is filename in Title Bar when opened?

Should be just template name with no extension.

OK, I'll give it a whirl.

When I use MS Word 2007 I can save any document as a template and
leave it on the desktop or anywhere else. I can open it, and it'll
save as a new document, NOT as template. That is, the File>Open>Save
works great.

I wonder why Excel requires the extra steps of opening Templates?

No idea why Excel developers went that route but we are stuck with it.
