I have tried many different things, but have been unable to get
VBProject.MakeCompiledFile to work. I have tried setting the
value to my VBProject, and just using ThisWorkbook.VBProject
and everything gives me "Method or Property is not valid in
this type of project".

I have searched help, knowledgebases (MSDN), and this
newsgroup to no avail (but maybe the Google search is
failing me ?) .

Thanks for any help...

I am using Excel 97 SR2 and "MakeCompiledFile" does not exist in the object
hierarchy, so I assume you must be using Excel 2000 and this method must be a
new addition. Does your on-line help give some indication as to what type of
project this method *does* support?

This option in XL2K, I think, is coming from
VB, but seems to be totally useless in VBA.

So, I hardly understand why MS put it here !

Any idea ?

The MakeCompiledFile method is used to compile a stand-alone VBA
project (Type = vbext_pt_StandAlone = 101) into a DLL file. You
cannot use it with VBProjects that are part of a workbook (Type =
vbext_pt_HostProject = 100).

You use this to automate compilion of an COM Add-In project file.
It corresponds to the Make DLL menu item on the VBA File menu.

I believe you need the Developer Edition in order to use
MakeCompiledFile.
