If I have a row of characters, how do I sort the row so that the
selected cells are in alphabetical order?

Data|Sort > Options > Sort left to right.

I tried it and it worked for one row of cells. I could not figure how to
do it for a rectangular array of cells. I tried recording a macro, but
Excel balked and I could not do it. I could have used an old fashioned
macrosheet but Excel does not seem to support that any more.
