Trendline on secondary axis

Can a visible trendline be created on a data series that's plotted on the
secondary axis (Excel2000 SP3)? I tried and, although the trendline seemed
to have been created (it was shown in the legend), it was not visible. If I
shifted the series back to the primary axis, the trendline became visible.
Is there something I need to do to the secondary axis, the data series or
the trendline to make this work?

Thanks
Tom

Sorry, I can't duplicate the problem with either XL2000SR1 or
XL2002SP1. What happens if you use the drop down box in the chart
toolbar? Can you select the trendline from there? Or if you select
any chart component and then use the up/down arrows to scroll through
all the objects in the chart?

Thanks for the reply. The trendline is actually created (I can see it if I
switch the data series primary axis and it's name appears in the "Name Box"
in the tool bar when I scroll to it via the up/down arrows). The only
problem is that when the data series is switched to the secondary axis the
trendline becomes invisible. btw, all items on the secondary axis are
auto-scaled. If I change that to manually scale the secondary axis the same
as the primary axis, the trendline is still not displayed until I switch the
series back to the primary axis.

I am at a loss as to why the trendline disappears.

What kind of plot is this? Both the series on the primary and the
series on the secondary axis.

What kind of trendline are you using?

If you ask for 'show equation on chart' what do you get?

What happens if you swap the series on the primary and secondary axis?

OK, the deal is that I added the (secondary axis) data series to an existing
chart. When I added the new data series, I used the Source Data | Series |
Add and I used the Series dropdown to specify the Y values. The x-axis
dropdown had the correct range in it. When I clicked on the resulting graph
of the series data, however, there was no x-axis range in the SERIES
equation - it looked like "=SERIES(name,,y-values)". After I manually filled
in the x-axis data range in the SERIES equation, the trendline was displayed
OK.

Thanks
Tom

Ah, ah! Something to remember about trendlines, methinks.

Glad you got that worked out and thanks for letting folks know.
