Win 98 en Pentium IV > 2,1 Ghz

¿has cambiado la memoria? ¿has aumentado memoria? ¿cuanta tienes?...

Esto es mas importante el W9X que la velocidad del procesador.

Pues antes te funcionaba porque Dios es existe y además es bueno.........
W98 no puede tener mas de 512 Megas de RAM.

Documentado en varios articulos del KB. En particular los articulos Q184447
y Q304943 de la base de conocimiento de Microsoft.

Para intentar solventarlo, el KB tambien da como parche el poner la linea:

MaxFileCache=500000

en la seccion [vcache] del system.ini.

Igualmente poner:

MaxPhysPage=40000

en la seccion [386enh] del mismo fichero.

SYMPTOMS

When you are installing Windows 95 or Windows 98 on a computer that has a
CPU that runs at 2.2 gigahertz (GHz) or faster, you may receive the
following error message: While initializing device NDIS: Windows protection
error CAUSE The timing calibration code in the Network Driver Interface
Specification (NDIS) driver causes a divide by zero if the CPU runs at 2.2
GHz or faster. This problem does not occur with CPUs that run at 2.1 GHz or
slower.

RESOLUTION

Windows 98 A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only
intended to correct the problem described in this article and should be
applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. To resolve this
problem, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the fix. For a
complete list of Microsoft Product Support Services phone numbers and
information on support costs, please go to the following address on the
World Wide Web:

Jose Manuel, eso de los 512 MB de RAM en Windows 98, ¿como es? Es decir, ¿no
te detecta más de 512 MB?, ¿En Windows Me pasa eso?

Mejor olvídalo, yo lo intenté hasta el agotamiento, no es posible lograr que
Win98 funcione con procesadores superiores a 2.1 Ghz ni con mas de 512 MB
RAM, mejor adquiere un Millenium o un XP.
