Three characters at beginning of xml file written with xmltextwriter

Here they are:



They appear at the beginning of the file. If I cut and paste the file with
these characters into a xml validator I get an error. These characters do
not appear in notepad but do in my other text editor. Explorer seems to open
the file ok though. Thanks

Does that text editor not support Unicode? What you see is (most likely)
a byte order mark (BOM): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byte-order_mark

Thanks, that's gotta be it. the xml file is utf-8 and I've got an old
version of textpad. As long as it is normal and won't cause a problem with
any xml readers then that's fine.
