I have the .NET framework installed on a XP Home edition machine. It is
version 1.0.3705
I am attempting to use a com object within a .NET Windows service written in
C# and I do not have Visual Studio.NET
From the documentation that I have read, I must first run tlbimp.exe on the
existing .dll except I don't have that tool! I have searched my hard drive
as well as msdn to see if this tool is a seperate download but it doesn't
appear to be. I tried reinstalling the framework as well, but I still don't
have this tool. Is this a tool that comes only with Visual Studio?

Thanks,

The .Net Framework SDK has the tool in it. It is a 131MB
download though.

with VS.NET it is at:
...\FrameworkSDK\Bin\TlbImp.exe
but I guess you should find it also there with just the SDK.

It bounced because the mail server probably doesn't accept .exe files as
attachments.

I tried to respond to your e-mail, but it got bounced. It
is supposed to be in the FrameworkSDK\Bin folder. I have
the file. E-mail me your e-mail address.

But in your first post you were talking about the .NET Framework (23MB redist), this is not the same as the SDK (120MB).
So the question remains did you install the SDK, then you should have tlbimp.exe in ...FrameworkSDK\Bin\, else .... you need to
download the SDK.

Wow you know what I thought the SDK was installed on here (I didn't set up
the computer), but the csc executable was on here so I assumed so. Then I
said in this thread that I reinstalled, but what happened was that yesterday
I started the setup for the SDK and it said something about not having IIS
installed, so I cancelled it to go see if I could install that first, but
then one of our T1's went down and I got bombared with calls for the rest of
the day and just came back to this problem today thinking that I had
installed the SDK until this message jogged my memory. Sorry about that
everyone, I just ran the SDK install for real this time and all is well.
Don't mind me......
