capturing mouse events outside of my window

I am trying to capture a mouse click anywhere on the system while I
have a modal dialog box up. I am using the code in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318804 - and it doesn't work.

1) I only get messages when I clcik in a window for my window or a
parent window.

2) I never get the WM_LBUTTONDOWN event, just the wParams of
WM_MOUSEMOVE and 0x00A0 (whatever that is).

How can I do this?
