There are several ways.

#1, if it's a real text document (?.txt), you can read the doc in and print
the characters on a bitmap using DrawString.

#2 if its an RTF or .DOC document you may be able to use the thumbnail
generation facilities of the shell to obtain an image. Look for C# and
IExtractImage on google.
