Non null varchars

I am having a problem with non null varchars (SqlServer). When I fill a
dataset with an empty (not null) varchar column that column is set to null
if the dataset accept nulls or an exception is raised.. If I change another
column and update the dataset I get an exception because I try to store a
null column. How can I avoid it?. I am using Beta2.

Forget it, I have found the problem. I use DevExpress edit controls and they
set to null all empty strings. Sorry for the confusion.
