<Newbie> Distributing a Com

Hi,

I wish to know if it is possible to build a .dll that will
work on a windows 2000 system without the use of .net
framework.

We are unable to distribute the framework due to logistics.

The answer is yes, as long as the DLL is not written using the .NET
framework. Any code written with .NET will require the framework to be
distributed with it - that's simply the nature of the architecture. All
.NET code is compiled into an intermediate language that requires the Common
Language Runtime (CLR) to execute it.
You can write your DLL in previous MS technologies VB 6 or C++; each of
these will require some associated DLLs to be distributed with your
component as well.

You can write the dll in ATL with VS2003 and distribute it without .NET.
