After installing the Football Manager 2009 demo I got a problem.
When I click on the shortcut to the game I get the message that the
d3dx9_37.dll file is missing. I install the file into the system but FM09
then just tells me that there is a problem and the program will quit.
I therefore remove the installed file and try to run the dxwebsetup.exe
following the game.
Now the message "an internal error occurred. Please refer to dxerror.log and
directx.log in your windows to determine problem".
The DXerror says:

Anyone got a clue what the problem is, and how it can be fixed?
I had the EXACT same issue with d3dx_34.dll and Crysis, Crysis Warhead and
COD4. I tried EVERYTHING over the course of a month. I had all the issues
you described below. NOTHING would repair it.
I finally used my "factory image" on my HP and restored my computer to it's
factory image, day 1 state. Basically a new installation of Windows. After
that, I updated Windows (I have Vista Sp1) and updated my drivers, especially
video, and then installed my games and they all played PERFECTLY!!! No
direct X errors anymore.
Somehow, somewhere, after I purchased this PC and used it, something I did
corrupted Directx which is part of Windows, so Windows was corrupted. I
tried to reinstall DirectX every way possible.. it would not install on this
PC..... I got the same errors that you have and checked my logs, just the
same.... NO result!!
A friend of mine told me on Day 1 of this issue (he's a major gamer) that I
should just factory restore the pc b/c a direct x issue is fatal for
games.... I was certain I could fix it..... I was wrong.....
So, I hate to tell you, but from MY experience the only repair, based upon
what I have read in your post, is a factory restore or a clean install.......
I hope I'm wrong, and good luck!!
David.
