I have Vista 64 sp1 with DirectX 10.1. I have tried to install and play
Call of Duty 4 and Crysis Warhead (two game I bought b/c I have a new "good"
computer) and both will install but not launch. The both error at lauch
"missing d3dx9_34.dll" You know the deal.. I have tried to install
Directx 9 both from the install disk of the game and directly from Microsoft
Direct End-user Runtime web installer... version 9.25.1476... All direct x
installs stop and error saying the "version of Direct X in incompatible with
my version of Windows" Then no install.... I've done a lot of reasearch
on this for a couple of weeks and have found nothing. How can I get the
missing Directx 9 files on my PC???? I'm beginning to think my Direct X on
this PC is corrupt. HELP!

I fixed my Direct x problem... DirectX was corrupt which means Windows was
corrupt as Directx is a part of windows! I used my factory image
partition on my HP and restored my computer back to it's factory install or
the day I bought it. I then updated windows and drivers and installed Crysis
and COD4... The both played PERFECTLY!!!! There is no way to "repair"
Vista like XP so this in one's only option with corrupt Windows...

I hope this helps people! Don't waste your time trying to fix something
that can't be fixed, just reinstall Windows with Direct X issues.
