I am looking for a photo editing program like the old Picture It!, and I was
told that Digital Image Suite 2006 was MS' continuation of Picture It!. I do
have one question. One thing I liked about PI was the numerous borders that
you could place around digital photos. I didn't find any of this in the
Digital Image suite that I d/l and tried out. Was this taken out, or can
someone tell me where i can find this?

===============================
The artwork and projects are not included
in the 60 day Trial Version. I suspect one
reason for this was to minimize the file size
for download purposes.

The retail version comes on two CDs and
has many of the projects and options you
remember from Picture It!.

Be aware that the MS Digital Image Suite
line is discontinued and can only be found
at sites like Amazon and eBay.

There are three variations of the 2006 version:

Look for.....

#1) "Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006"

or...

#2) "Microsoft Digital Image Suite Plus"
(same program but includes a copy of
Pinnacle Studio Ver: 10)

(there is a Vista compatibility patch
available for both of the above versions)

or...

or...

#3) "Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006
Anniversary Edition" (this version is
optimized for Vista and doesn't require
the patch)

I think it's a great program and use it regularly...
I'm sorry they discontinued the product line.

Thanks for the update.

One more question--the pricing of the DI Standard is much lower than the DI
Suite. Do you know if the standard version has the borders and mats as well
as the suite? I'd like to get away with the Standard if I can, as the suite
itself is still going for 100 or close to it, on amazon.

Sorry...but I do not know the content of the Standard
version...the only ones I've used were the Suite variety.

I happen to have .pdf copies of the Standard 2006,
Suite 2006 and Anniversary 2006 Edition manuals....
I uploaded copies to the following site for you....

Maybe they will help you determine which version is
best for you.

DI Standard 2006
https://www.yousendit.com/download/Y1RxSkhiTERCTWxMWEE9PQ

DI Suite 2006
https://www.yousendit.com/download/Y1RxSkhTOC9Fc0pMWEE9PQ

DI Anniversary 2006
https://www.yousendit.com/download/Y1RxSkhWUnJ0TWxMWEE9PQ

If you purchase any version other than the Anniversary
edition....you should download and save a copy of the
Vista Compatibility Patch.

(Not required for the Anniversary Edition)

Thanks for the links. I've d/l them all. The best I could come up with
(after quite a while of searching through results) was the project manager
for the DIS 2006 talking about the differences between the Suite and
Standard--the only thing she mentioned was that the Suite had a few more
programs for editing--making it appear that Standard would have everything
I'm talking about (the term "suite" itself giving a cue that it is a
combination of programs). As long as this is the only difference I should be
ok getting the standard. Man I couldn't find any torrent with standard so
I'll take a gamble and just order the standard on amazon.

Well I can state that the Standard edition has (most likely) all the frames
and mats that the Suite does/did. I didn't exactly do a count, but the
Standard edition had scores and scores of frames in the various categories,
just like the Suite did. So all is well--not only did I not waste 25 bucks
on the DVD for the Standard edition, but wifey won't be upset, as I
uninstalled the Suite before installing the standard version--always
dangerous when you are working on lovey-dovey's software. :)
