I recently got a new computer and migrated my Office 97
software from my old Windows 98 machine to my new Windows
XP Home machine. Now, when I try to download clip art
from the Microsoft website, nothing happens. At first, I
couldn't even access clip art; but I found a note on the
support website which got Clip Art working again.
I downloaded and installed the two service packs for
Office 97, but still no luck. When I select Clips and
attempt to download them, I can't find them in my
gallery. I found a link on the Microsoft site to set the
default in IE to open rather than save the files, so that
they get downloaded to the gallery. Now, I don't get the
pop-up box asking whether to open or save. They are also
not on my hard drive; I searched for the file names but
can't seem to find them anywhere. Any ideas? Thanks.

I installed the updates and deleted the files you
recommended. But the problem still exists. Any other
ideas? Thanks

There are troubleshooting knowledge base articles for Clip Gallery 3.

The above is part one, it has a link to part 2.
Do you have PhotoDraw?

I refreshed the MDAC components and looked over the KB
articles you referenced but still no luck. What's
strange is that I can still use the old .wmf files that I
downloaded before I upgraded my computer. But when I
attempt to download new files, they cannot be found.
Could it be an incompatibility between Windows XP home
and Office 97?

I have Clip Gallery 3.0 - I don't see any
option "Recover" when I right click on an image. I
deleted a bunch of images to see if the gallery is full
(not sure how to check that), but the problem remains. I
checked my entire hard drive for any new .cif or .wmf
files, but I can't locate any. My previously downloaded
clips are in the Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft
Shared\Artgalry\Downloaded Clips directory. if that means
anything.

I deleted the dgl cookie and tried to download directly
from the Design Gallery. I was prompted to agree to the
liscensing agreement and then it asked which format to
save the download in (.cil or another one for Windows
XP), which I never got when downloading throught the clip
gallery. But I never got a pop-up box prompting to open
or save - I guess it selected automatically based on the
link I ran earlier (see my original e-mail). Don't know
what happened to file. How can I "undo" that setting
that opens the download automatically and allows me to
choose? Thanks for all your help so far - don't know
about you, but I'm getting frustrated!.
