Hi,

We are trying to install a WDS server on a Windows 2008 R2 server.
WE joined the server in a AD 2000 with Windows 2000 servers.

We add the WDS role OK.

We configured the server, but when we start it it give an 768 error saying
that it can't initialize the Auto Add PolicY.
We checked all rights , all AD rights.
It seems OK

Can we do that or do we have to upgrade the servers to 2008 or raise the AD
level ??

regards,

Any idea ?

Hi Jef,

this is generated by the auto add policy which creates automatically an
computer account in your active directory.

From technet :
The Auto-Add Devices database enables you to add computer accounts to Active
Directory Domain Services automatically. You will find this database in the
\RemoteInstall\Mgmt folder (by default, the RemoteInstall folder is located
on drive C). The database is created by the Pre-Boot Execution Environment
(PXE) provider the first time you enable the Auto-Add functionality (using
either the MMC snap-in or the /AutoAddPolicy command-line option). All
computers in the pending queue are represented as an entry in the database
on the Windows Deployment Services server.

Check the following KB if that helps you :
