I am using MDT 2008 update 1 to create my master images.

I have built my XPSP3 task sequence and it is working fine, however I ran
into problems with Vista.

I have tried with both Vista and SP1 Enterprise editions.

I imported the OS from disk, set up a default task sequnce without adding or
subtracting anything from the default sequence. Then I updated the LAB
distro point.

When I boot from CD and choose the task sequence for Vista, it partitions
the drive and all that, but fails as it is installing windows. It goes all
the way through the expanding files and quickly skips through installing
features, but about 20 seconds into Installing updates... it errors with
Windows could not apply unattended settings during pass (null).

Does anyone have any hints as to what might be causing this?

Before someone asks, I have Out-of-Box drivers loaded, but I do not have any
OS Packages loaded. In researching I saw people have theis problem after
importing a certain hotfix. I have only imported our MVLS Vista SP1
Enterprise DVD and then tried to deploy it.

I believe that code means:
0x800700c1 = ERROR_BAD_EXE_FORMAT

Does it get far enough to create a C:\windows\panther directory? Is there
anything interesting in the setupact.log during failure?

I tried and tried to get this to work with no luck. I made a backup of my
Distribution share. I uninstalled everything having to do with MDT, BDD and
all that.

Starting from scratch, it worked fine.

I sure hope I don't do again whatever caused this problem with my vista
install.
