Application.ScreenUpdating = False funktioniert nicht

Ich habe mir von Microsoft eine Excel-Datei mit
Beispielcode geholt (SampleVBA.xls).
Beim Ausführen der Methode AttachLabelsToPoints()
wird Application.ScreenUpdating = False gesetzt.
Im Debugger ist der Wert aber unverändert True.

Was ist die Ursache?
Hier der Anfang der Methode:

Zeige das Überwachungsfenster an und ziehe den Ausdruck:
'Application.ScreenUpdating' mit gedrückter linker Maustaste in das Fenster.

Starte die Prozedur im Einzelschrittmodus (F8).
Dann kannst du den Wert der Eigenschaft im Überwachungsfenster genau verfolgen.
