I have a protection group that includes multiple Hyper-V VMs on a CSV. The
DPM server has 2 SAN disks in the storage pool each being 2TB. DPM shows
2092.57GB of unallocated space but will not allow me to add any additional
resources to the protection group. Throws the following error:

Modify protection group: Hyper-V failed:
Error 360: The operation failed due to a virtual disk service error
Error details: VdsError:The specified disk extent size exceeds the size of
free disk space. (0x80042515)
Recommended action: Retry the operation.

I just tried creating a new Protection Group and I get the same error. So it
seems to point to DPM not being able to utilize the available disk space.

I figured it out. I took both disks offline and then online (in Disk
Management) and then rescanned them in DPM and now all is good.

They already are GPT disks.

we have the same problem. Jobs where failing because of auto-growth was not able to extend the volumes.
The disks was already a GPT disk (default 2010 RC) and just below 2 tb.
We rebooted the DPM server and this solved it for us.
The allocated disk space is now still below 2tb "limit".
After the reboot we gained diskspace automatically (2%).
I don`t now why. Is this a automatisc shrink process?
