Is it the case that the crash is happening everytime this operation is
attempted?

Thanks,

Yes, every time the DPM server node is expanded [in "Available members"
window]. After the "hour glass" timeout [several minutes...], the following
message finally appears in DPM console:
----------
DPM cannot browse JULIET.domain because the agent is not responding.

If you just installed an agent on JULIET.domain, the computer might be
restarting. Wait a few minutes after Windows starts for the agent to become
available. Otherwise, troubleshoot the problem as follows:
1) Check recent records from the DPMRA source in the Application Event Log
on JULIET.domain to find out why the agent failed to respond.
2) Make sure that the DPM server is remotely accessible from JULIET.domain.
3) If a firewall is enabled on the DPM server, make sure that it is not
blocking requests from JULIET.domain.
4) Restart the DPM Protection Agent service on JULIET.domain. If the service
fails to start, re-install the protection agent.

ID: 33
Details: Internal error code: 0x8099090E

Can you try opening the file DPMInstallPath\DPM\Backup
Documents\dpmmetadata.xml using IE?

Does it open up without any issues?

Thanks,

Probably not. This is what I get when opening in IE:
"
The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and
then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

Further investigation with XML Notepad pointed to one Protection group name
"Virtual Machine & VHD's" where the "&" character flag error. On a copy of
DpmMetadata.xml, by removing all occurances of the ampersand character
setting the Protection group name to "Virtual Machine VHD's", the file opens
in both IE and XML Notepad.

Changing the name using "Modify protection group..." in DPM console didn't
change the DpmMetadata.xml file.

Is there a procedure to replace original [DpmMetadata.xml] with the edited
copy?
