Trying to decommision my origanal beta DPM server

I've removed the protection group and uninstalled the agent via DPM UI.
Rebooted the protected server double checked to make sure the agent was
successfully uninstalled.

From a new DPM server I'm unable to install the agent Error ID 337

I am able to install manually dpagentinstaller.exe and then
productionserver.ps1 but when DPM tries to connect I get Error ID 270.

The targeted protected server was running the agent without issue prior to
the uninstall? The target server is a Win2K3 DC.

Any ideas?

TIA

Hi Milo,

Are you able to ping DPM from PS and vice versa. And also check the
connection i.e. you are able to connect from DPM to PS and vice versa..

Thanks
Mukul

Thank you for the reply. I don't believe connectivity is an issue,
communications in all other aspects is working without problem. I did a
little sniffing and can watch the traffic flowing between the two. Just an
idea but I think it might be some reg key on the PS that might be pointing to
the old DPM. Again it's just an idea. Can you point me to directions to
completely remove the agent and all it's reg keys from PS, I'd like to see if
a fresh start will have any effect.

Thanx

Milo,
try to see it this may help:
http://blogs.technet.com/askcore/archive/2008/04/23/troubleshooting-agent-deployment-in-data-protection-manager-2007.aspx

It contains indications on what reg keys to delete to cleanup an
agent.

Thank you for the reply. Turns out that "Dist. COM Group" was not part of
the COM security Launch and Activate limits.

Now that I've got that solved the install will fail arounf 88% with the
following
Error details: Fatal error during installation (0x80070643)

I'm not 100% sure but I think the installation of KB KB951557. Not sure
if I should start another thread or not.

Hello,
is it an English or nationalized version of Windows ?

Can you try the agent manual installation procedure ?
