DPM 2010 install problem

Trying to install the latest beta on a completely fresh 2008 Server R2
Hyper-V machine.

Getting an error about the Windows Installer failing...portion of logfile
below - hope it's the relevant part.
Any ideas?

Hi - Can you try installing Microsoft Windows Installer (version 4.5) before
running DPM setup? Seems like the installer on this computer is not working
correctly..

Tried to install Windows Installer v4.5 and get a message back:
The update is not applicable to your computer.
