Hello,
which drivers are you using for the Library and drive ?
The IBM provided drivers or the Microsoft drivers ?

Those problems are usually due to driver's issues.

I solved sometime running the standard LTOtape.sys from Microsoft
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941140/en-us/) but with other IBM
libraries/drives I used with success the latest IBM drivers that you
can find here:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/storage/devdrvr/Windows/Win2003/Latest/

Pay attention to the setup, don't use the Windows standard procedure
to install/update the driver, because it won't run correctly.

Unpack the drivers and use the IBM provided install engine:
Install_nonexclusive.exe -t -d [-s]

Ciao, Claudio

Thanks for the IBM ftp link Claudio - there was indeed a more recent driver
(6.1.9.3)available then the one Dell (6.1.8.0) currently ships. The library
still fails fast inventory - but tape erase is now working.

Downside noticed is that mmc now hangs when trying to check on the driver of
the tape drive in device manager.

I also updated fw on the library and the drive itself - since Dell had
released newer fw than what was present on the newly arrived hw.

Yes I believe there is a DPM paradise in the future somewhere - where
everything will just work flawlessly together :) and I am keeping on trying
to build it one environment at a time :)

Hi Xun,

Which tape library and driver version are you using?
