Is there an OLEDB provider for IBM DB2 available free of
charge? I already have access to ODBC drivers, and I
understand some Microsoft products include such a driver.

I am interested in obtaining a legal copy of OLEDB driver
for IBM DB2 that is hopefully free of charge.

Thanks

IBM offers one themselves.

But you'll understand that 'free' good drivers for DB2 do not exist? If you
pronounce 'DB2' that will already cost you 100K for each letter :)

Not sure what type of system your taking about.

If it's an IBM AS/400 then there's a OLE DB Provider that comes free
with Client Access, IBMDA400. When you install Client Access make
sure to select the Custom Install, the provider isn't part of the
base install.

I'm using the V4R5M0 version in VB .NET programs and haven't had any
problems, performance is pretty good also. Be careful if your going to
use datasets with this release level, some of the data field types don't
get translated properly. If you use V5R0M0 or above you don't have
those problems.
