I'm having problems getting RDS working on a LAN using DCOM, Windows 2000 server
and Windows 2000 clients. It works fine in-process on the server
(RDSDataControl.Server = "") but from the clients (RDSDataControl.Server =
"SvrName") I get the error "Business object cannot be created". I presume its
telling me it can't create the default DataFactory object on the server but why?
Other parts of the app are using DCOM to talk to the server just fine. I'm
logged on as Domain Administrator on both cient and server.

Any suggestions?

Michael

Michael,
If you are trying to create a new instance of a RDS DataFactory / Custom
Business Object using RDS DataSpace over DCOM, then additional steps must be
taken.

Check out the following KB article

Hi Michael,

There are a number of configuration issues that you must address before RDS
will work. A good reference for troubleshooting these issues is in the
Microsoft Knowledge Base. The URL to the article is
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q251/1/22.asp. There are
several things you need to check, so be careful to follow all the steps in
the article, and RDS should start working.

Hope that helps!
