I have a T-Mobile Vario3 (HTC Tytn2) running Windows Mobile 6.1 and a
HTC HD2 running Windows Mobile 6.5, when I connect via USB to my WIndows
7 Ultimate 64bit PC, Windows Mobile Device Centre will launch
automatically when I connect the 6.1 mobile but not when I connect the
6.5 mobile, however it does auto-sync as I have added items to my
calendar an it syncs Ok even though it hasn't launched the program.

if i connect to a XP machine they will both launch Activesync OK.

I am not sure if this is a Windows Mobile 6.5 problem, a HTC HD2
problem, or a Windows 7 proble, has anyone else had the same problem and
managed to fix it?

Thanks

Not sure how to phrase this, but there isn't anything wrong. You have
actually realized this by noting that your 6.5 device syncs, even though
WMDC doesn't 'launch'. Actually the interface doesn't come up. It actually
launches, and you likely hear the USB connect and sync connect sounds. Both
my 6.5 & 6.1 device does the same, connect with no UI launching. (Win 7
Ultimate, 64b). So I guess your 6.1 device is broken ;) If you look in the
options of AS, I bet you find a an option to either start the interface or
not. I recall that in early versions at least. I have looked and can't find
a similar option in WMDC, and I can't explain why one opens WMDC and one
doesn't. Personally I prefer it not openning, because once set up, I really
don't need it taking up space. I can access the device straight from file
explorer if I need to, and I can bring WMDC up if I need to change a
parameter. The 6.1 device does retain a partnership, right? It is not
asking to set up each time is it? On first connect, or connecting a device
that isn't partnered with a PC, WMDC is supposed to come up and provide the
sync, or just connect, option.

That sounds right then, I don't have the 6.1 as a partnership with the
PC as it is a replaced device, so that is why it launches WMDC? that
makes sense now, I just wish there was an option to launch or not, but
thanks for clearing that up.

Thanks again
