I picked this up from a previous thred for which I can
comment and would like to know what the .... is with this
Having trouble with just one client running against CRM
v1.2 on a single server (CRM / SQL) with AD and Exchange
on separate machines. Performance is ok cause this client
is slightly under spec (PIII 600 / 320MB) but exactly the
same deal happens with the dysfunctional buttons. Although
the clear cache normally resolves this each time, it
doesn't instill much confidence in the eyes of the users.
For another laptop that is over spec this also occurs, but
not nearly as often, but this client does not have any PDA
synchronisation. If I had a legit reason for this occuring
it would make the situation a lot better!!!!!
Chris.

Hi Alfred,
CRM is installed on its own server (Windows 2003 SBS).
There seem to be some errors on this server relating to a
network printer, but seem to be unrelated.
SQL is installed on a seperate machine and does not have
any errors in the logs.
The Exchange server is currently beyond my ability to
view , in this case, but it resides on our DC which is
also Windows 2003 SBS. I'll check in with our sys admin
to see if there is anything there.
The client stations don't have any error logs that
indicate any problems, but all of the stations that are
affected do have PDA synchronization installed with
Outlook. I have read some posts that indicate this may be
an influencing factor. Any corroborating evidence to that
effect on your end?
Let me know.
Thanks,
Erik
your enviroment seems to be O.K.. Did I understand you, that your Outllook
clients, which are using the Sales for Outllook, using an PDA and syncs?
This might be a reason, why you will los the function of some buttons!
- Do you have the same problem on any other client and user account, which
has not a PDA in use?
All the webclient functions of CRM works fine, does it?
- Which troubleshootings steps have you done?

Yes, all my affected workstations are currently using PDA
synch software as well. I have not experienced this
problem yet with any workstations that do not have PDA
synch installations, but I have many of those.
All of the web client functions are unaffected.
As far as troubleshooting is concerned, I have performed
clear forms cache, which usually resolves the issue.
Sometimes I have had to disassociate and reassociate the
CRM COM object. Only in one case was I required to
uninstall and reinstall SfO 1.2 on the client station to
resurrect the functions. But this seems to be awfully
consistent and eats up a lot of my time over and over.
It was my understanding that PDA synch was supposed to be
functional with SfO, not cause problems. I understand
that the Outlook CRM client is not fully stable yet and
that Microsoft is working very hard to get out a more
functional version, but, in the meantime, I'm battling a
pretty tough PR battle out here trying to keep my end
users happy and making sure they stay on board with our
new implementation.
Any interim solutions you might have would be of enormous
assistance.
Thanks,
Erik Dudley

I have a workstation in the office with PDA that has no issues.
I have a laptop user that syncs with a PDA that his buttons have
disappeared several times.
However, it seems to be because when he takes his laptop away he doesnt
select the offline mode and allow CRM to synch up before he goes. Since he
has started doing this his buttons have remained.
FYI! - if you are using Outlook 2003 you must re-enable the mscrm.dll under
the Help..About..Disabled Items. This is a new feature of Outlook 2003
where the dll's will not continue to run until you re-enabled them.
Good Luck
in few month there will be a MSCRM software, called "MSCRM Mobility". With
this active sync, you should be able to sync without any problems.
Using a PDA to sync with Outlook during the offline/online synchronization
process, the user must have the mobile device undocked!
