Hi,

We are currently running CRM 1.2. I recently began noticing an issue with
Internet Explorer crashing. It appears to be getting worse and seems like it
happens most frequently when selecting items from the top navigation menu
(Tools, Go To, etc.) I have Pop Up blocker turned off, but that is not
helping.

Is anyone having a similar issue? Users are experiencing browser crashes
several times a day.

Thank you,
Donna

Hello,

KB 918899 provides some insight on the cause of this problem. There is a
temporary fix, but we discovered that the problem may still arise. A patch
will be released on the 22nd of the month.

It appears that the cause as we as ascertained is due to

Has anyone been able to get their hands on the new update? Was it not
released today? I have a couple of IESP2 CRM 1.2 mshtml.dll errors. Am I
the only one with this error on IE SP2?

Thanks.

Hi Robert,

I haven't looked into obtaining the update yet, but I did instruct everyone
to uninstall hotfix KB918899 from their computer and that fixed the problem
for us. I had the error running IE 6 SP2 as well. You have to uninstall the
hotfix to correct the issue and then install the new one when it is released.

Thank you,
Donna

I used WSUS to install. It states it cannot be uninstalled and it is not in
the add/remove programs list. It does have the uninstall files in the
windows directory (the blue folders) but I could not find any documentation
to remove it using only the uninstall information in those folders.

Thanks.
Robert.

Hi Robert,

Be sure to follow all of these steps and you should be able to find the file
in the Add or Remove Program directory.

You can access Add or Remove Programs by selecting Start and Control Panel.
You will need to select the checkbox, Show Updates, in order to display the
list of hot fixes applied to your computer.
After locating the update file, highlight it and select Remove.
Accept any prompts you receive.

You will find KB918899 under Windows XP - Software Updates.

This is an issue raised by a recent windows update package. After a
long wait...
A hotfix is now available through Microsoft Product Support (and given
it is a product issue it should be deemed free, but don't quote me).

KB article 926996, Fix numbers 187899 and 187898 for server and client.

I have been told the release via Windows Update will occur as part of a
cumulative update in October.

We too are having this problem with IE crashing in CRM 1.2 when you are
using the advanced find feature from the tools menu.
Platform: Win XP Sp2
Browser: IE 6 Sp2
CRM: 1.2
I spoke with Microsoft yesterday, and obtained a hotfix, but
unfortuneatly, it was for IE 6 Sp1.
So kind of at a loss here as to why this is happening......

We've been having the same sorts of problems with IE6 SP2, on CRM3.0, and
it's definitely related to this security update. My best suggestion is to
try uninstalling the update 918899 and see if that fixes the issue on one of
your computers. If that's the case then you've probably got at least three
options - install the hotfix now available at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923996/, uninstall the update (and find some
way of ensuring that it doesn't auto-update and re-install itself), or hold
tight until there's another cumulative update.

This issue was first reported on IE6 SP1, and I think that's what Microsoft
fixed first, but I'm pretty certain it's also an issue on IE6 SP2.

Hello All,

Our company was having the same issue and for the short term, we updated to
latest Internet Explorer. We configured browser to open links in new window.
This has been our workaround for the time being.

This is a known issue / bug with the latest update on IE6 - there is a hot
fix available - its to do with dismissing popups - caused me to try IE7!

Hope this helps,

Chris

Hello,
I have followed this out and applied the New updates and it did not
resolve the issue. Microsoft sent the KB923762 file and it will not apply it
reports that my system is newer than this patch.

Any other ideas ??

Robert,

923762 looks like it refers to IE SP1 only. I think you mentioned that you
were on IE SP2?? That may be the cause of the warning message you are
receiving.

I'm sure you've thought of at least some of these, but my suggestions are:
1) request and install 923996 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923996/)
2) uninstall 918899
3) wait until the next cumulative update, whenever that may be, and assuming
it fixes the problem
4) upgrade to IE7

I realise that some of these options may be impractical or unpalatable, but
hopefully one of them a) works and b) is practical for you.
