Hi,

It seems like the data migration manager cannot be installed on windows
server 2008.

When I select the program destination folder,
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics CRM Data Migration Manager"

I get an error "The path is not of a legal form" and can not continue the
installation.
Can anyone give me some assistance?

Hi;

The credit for this goes to someone else, as I found it buried in a
newsgroup, but it did help me get past your error a few weeks ago:

See below. Dave Ireland

I managed to sort this out, so hope this will help someone in future.

As far as I am concerened, the reason was, that DMM setup checks for a path
to the CRM Server installation in registry,

Key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products\059DD8CB00184F24E99A62CF4D6109FA\InstallProperties]
Value: InstallLocation

I set the value it to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics CRM and setup
continued without an error (this was empty on my installation)

This seems to be a issue only if you try to install DMM on CRM Server
itself.

Hi Dave,

My mistake,
it seems like i need a 64 bit version to install the dmm to the server.

I didn't found the given registry entry though.

thanks for your reply!

I was able to find a key in the same spot: C5D06E9536719E94DB7D0491EB205E22
instead of the other one metioned.
InstallProperties->InstallLocation was also blank.
I added the path where MSCRM 4.0 was installed on my machine (E:\Program
Files\Microsoft Dynamics CRM) and it worked!
Thanks for the helpful post everyone.

The install

Number will be all different. You can look for Display name 'Microsoft
Dynamics CRM Server'.
