Why am I always prompted to log on to CRM?

I am already authenticated through Windows. When I launch CRM I thought I
would not be required to log on again.

Is there some type of setting I need to configure to avoid unnecesssary
logons?

Hi Dave

When in IE, goto Tools -> Internet Options. Choose the Security tab and click the local intranet icon .Press the custom level button and right at the bottom of ther list is a set of options for Logon. If yours is set to prompt for username and password then change it to use current user name & password.

That should do the trick. If this does not work, I wonder if you are using SBS as I have a similar problem which I am trying to resolve.

Thanks Peter

I tried the setting "Automatic Logon with user name and password" and
"Automatic logon only in Intranet zone" and neither of these work; I still
am prompted to logon each time I launch CRM.

We are using Windows 2003 Std with Exchange 2003.

Dave,

When you created the virtual server for CRM in IIS to prepare for the
install did you uncheck Allow Anonymous checkbox? I just looked at my setup
and the only method checked is Windows Integrated Authentication. This is
located in the IIS manager, Microsoft CRM 1.2, directory security,
authentication and access control tab.

Thanks Edwin

The only authentication method specified for the CRM web site is Integrated
Windows Authentication.

I checked my browser settings and they should allow pass through
authentication. Also, I am checking the "save password" option.

Still each time I log on I am prompted to authenticate. This behavior is
consistent no matter which machine I try to logon from.

Dave,

I just read in another posting that IE considers any address containing a
period to be on the internet. IE then prompts for the user credentials,
knowing that integrated security will not usually run across the internet.

When I set up CRM on SBS2003 I created a CNAME alias for the CRM machine in
DNS. This must match the host header associated with the site in IIS. The
user can then start CRM by typing the CNAME (like http://crmweb) in the
address bar of IE.

What is the url address you are using to access CRM from a client machine?
